wacky wednesday

That's what a co-worker of mine said today. Who names days of the week, I mean really, c'mon! heehee. I'm trying very hard to concentrate on only work related things, but it's too hard when there is this thing called the internet! What in the world did people do at their desk jobs pre-world-wide-web days? Work? shheesh.
I was just reading through some old blog entries...my wishlist, some of the wishes have actually become realities! I got one of the books I wanted, the deathcab dvd, pot-holders for the kitchen, the deathcab CD, cable tv, and a haircut. I'd say I'm doing good! I would like to add one thing to the wishlist ....some shelves or stable unit for my tv and stereo to sit on for my bedroom.

Wacky Wednesday is no longer because I'm back to finish this post and it's now Friday! I'm getting kind of bad about journaling. If that's even a word.

It's all smoky here. It smells like a campfire! The smoke from the fires in the valley are billowing into a lot of the surrounding LA areas. My car had ashes on it last night when I went out to leave for the day. And I'm looking out the window of my 20 story building right now and another fire has started in Burbank...they are growing and beginning to start in places further East. If only the winds would calm down.

Ginger is coming to town next week. Dad is planning to take her on the hollwyood/beverly hills tour, and were going to go back to Laguna beach on saturday. Don't know exactly what's planed for sunday, her last day here, but I'm sure we'll find something fun for her to see/do.

Halloween is coming up this month! I've already been invited to 2 parties. I desperately need some costume ideas....please please leave me any ideas you might have! I want to think of something fun and original. It's so hard. I love Halloween, but I hate the part of thinking about what to dress up as and getting it together. It was much easier when I was a kid and I just told my mom what I wanted to be and she got my costume for me. :) I was some kind of a twin doll with my friend one year, and I was a clown, a punk rocker, a bumble bee and I'm not sure what else..some kind of animal, Bambi I think? But Halloween is so fun when everyone gets into it. I just hope I can think of something fantastic. ideas???!!

This is the beginning of my favorite time of year. I've been in the best mood lately just knowing that November is on it's way and Thanksgiving and then winter and Christmas and the New Year. I love New Years. It used to be one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, but lately I've been kind of lame about it. This year I'm bringing it back! I'm definitely going to do something to celebrate the first night of 2006! That sounds weird....I'm still stuck in 2002 to be honest. I'm not so sure what happened to 2002-now? Oh well. I also really like the spring. I guess I'm just not a fan of the summer, unless I'm on the river or at the beach or on a vacation. But for everyday living, going to work and the usual...summer bums me out big time. So glad summer is ending.

"Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus just came on the playlist. This song is so cheesy and old, but it putsme in the best mood. I love it. Just before that song was "Motorcycle drive-by" by Third Eye Blind. Another oldie but goodie! I-tunes is doing me good today.

Ok, so the weekend is nearing. Tonight I'm not really sure what's happening. I believe we'll end up at Renee's with the boys and probably stay out til 3 or 4, like the last few Friday nights have gone. Tomorrow I plan to sleep in! Tomorrow night, my dad, Quinn and Roxanne (from work) and I are going to a charity masquerade ball. Teresa (in my office) is involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters and they are hosting the event. We are not dressing up in costume or anything, but we do plan to wear a mask. Good enough, I think. It should be fun. I'm going to meet Roxanne's old assistant from Warner Bros. (Richard). He, by coincidence, will be there as a black jack dealer for the event. She's talked about him for so long, it will be good to finaly meet this legend of an assistant. Sunday, we might possibly go to Catalina Island. Not really sure yet. But Sunday night I'm way over due for a night of tivo with the girls...so many shows to catch up on. Americas Next Top Model is back on for another season, which makes me really happy in the weirdest way because Tyra Banks is HORRIBLE. She annoys me so much I don't know how I handle watching her for an hour straight. We will also all tune into "Grays Anatomy" my personal favorite at the moment. Patrick Dempsey is so hot, he's one of the few who seem to get better with age! And that brings me to end of the weekend, and almost to end of my Friday at the office! It's 5 o'clock. 1 hour to go! Have a super weekend all my bloggin readers. xoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxo!

A lot has happened....

in a week or a little over a week. Hurricane Rita happened, the premieres of "Arrested Development", "Gray's Anatomy", and "My Name is Earl" were all hits to me. I also went to a show last week, Stellastarr*. It was great! Good crowd, and surprisingly a good setlist (surprising to me because usually I'm annoyed when an artist tours with a new album, and I don't know it yet). Let's see what else, The Ipod Nano is out and here is mine :)

It's so cute, I love it! Dad and I went to Hearst Castle too. It was gorgeous. A beautiful drive along the coast, about 3.5 hours from Los Angeles. The castle which was William Randolph Hearts' creation, is now owned by the state. If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop there and take one of the tours. It's absolutely beautiful. Here are a few pictures. I was particularily fascinated by the swimming pools:

We stayed in the town, Cambria, which is only about 5 miles from the castle. The town was a cute, small, mountain town. It reminded us of a little colorado town. The lodge we stayed in was nice too. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to go back to the castle to tour more of the rooms and see more of the property. But I'm glad I did get the chance to see what we did. (Thanks Pops!)
Friday night before leaving town on Saturday morning, Quinn and I went out with Justin, Shane and Aaron. We had dinner at the Father's Office. One of the best burgers I've ever had and I couldn't even tell you exactly what all was on it, but it was amazing! After dinner, we went back to their apartment for a bit, while the boys primped and we got the plan for the rest of the evening. We tried to go to The Buffalo club but it was lame. There was a line out front and no one inside (clue that the club is LAME). So we ended up at the Gas Lamp in Santa Monica, a hole in the wall, crowded karaoke bar. Not far from home either, which is always nice! Aaron and I signed up to sing "Nothings Going to Stop Us Now" together, but we didn't slide some extra cash to the karaoke DJ (I believe they call themselves KJs), like some people were doing, so we never got called up to sing. Oh well, another time for that. Here are some pictures though. Aaaron is in the green and Shane is singing.

So that is pretty much it for today's blog. I've posted a lot of pictures...and I hope my spacing works, but it never does, so here's to hoping! I'll try to start posting regularly again. Cheers to Monday, everybody!

Here are some pics from Laguna Beach over the weekend. Dad and I drove up to Laguna on Sunday. It was a nice day, and the beach was really clean. Saturday we drove through a national park in California. It was very scenic, but I didn't take any pictures! On the way home we went to the Descanso botanical gardens in Pasadena. They were very nice as well. We then went to see a movie in Burbank. we saw "Broken Flowers" with Bill Murray. It was a good story and entertaining up until the very end. The ending was bad and it just kind of left us hanging.
Ginger is coming to visit October 6th, and I think we might go back to Laguna Beach while she is here, however I'm not sure - it depends on what she is interested in doing and what she wants to see while she is here. It's a short trip - a long weekend, Thursday - Sunday. Hopefully we'll make the most of it.
This was saved as a draft from yesterday because I was to busy to finish it. I will write more later in the day hopefully...

It's been one week

since I looked at you. Just kidding! Seriously, it has been 1 week since I've written in the blog. Labor day was this past Monday, in case you all didn't know. But if didn't know I'm sure you found out when you went to work and the place was closed! Unless you make slushies for a living at sonic, because they were open like most service related companies.
Ok, sorry. It's Wednesday, September 7th, 2005. On this day in history in 0070, the Roman army under Titus occupied and plundered Jerusalem! And, in 1963 it was the 1st US TV appearance of Beatles (Big Night Out-ABC).
My friend, Abbey had her wedding portraits taken last weekend. You can see them here. I think they turned out really good. They were taken after the wedding, so the wrinkles in the dress are going to be taken out with photoshop, so the dress looks clean and fresh. Jamie, Abbey's sister is fantastic photographer, and she took all of the pictures.
You can see more of her pictures and read about her in her blog, just click here.
I've been listening to the new Deathcab For Cutie CD over the last few days (thanks to Ginger, thanks to Daphne). It's called "Plans." It's a great release, they write wonderful, beautiful melodies, not to mention lyrics. And Ben Gibbard's voice puts me at ease almost instantly. I love it. I was also recently introduced to a band called Long-View. They are from England (Manchester). I have only heard what's available to listen to on their myspace page, but it is really good stuff. I'm anxious to check out more, see what's available at the record store! Click here, check them out, let me know what you think.
Speaking of bands, my friends in the band, iSOLA just released new pre-order info for the upcoming release, LOUD ALARMS. Visit the website and pre-order the new cd! It's great. They recorded it completely on their own.. all owned gear and studio equipment, and complete funding done by themselves. I'm very proud and so anxious to see what comes their way this new release. Also check out the tour dates on the website. Go to a show if you can....they are really great live and are picking up big followings in Houston, Austin and the Dallas areas. They could use your support. The song "Porch Sleeper" is one of my favorites. Once I learn how to host mp3 links here, I'll start so you can hear these songs with just a click away! I'll always support isola because they are my friends first, but truly, they are a great band and should be heard - they are better than most of the shit you hear on the radio, that's for sure!
I've blabbed on about music and nothing else really so far. I wish my life was more exciting. If only I could get my ass off the couch each night after work, I'd be able to write about all of the interesting things I do and the interesting people I meet along the way. Soon, I will have new friendships I believe. Quinn and I are making a real effort this weekend. We are planning to meet some new folks on friday night. Its a friends of friends kind of thing...I'm excited.
Well it's lunch time here and I should eat before I miss my chance..got a 3 o'clock meeting today. Happy Wednesday. I'll write some more useless info later...Peace!
