Monday, back to work

Do you ever have those weekends where it feels like they didn't exist? Not as though you didn't do anything, but just the opposite. The kind where you do a lot but then the next thing you know, it's Monday morning, you're back at your desk and everything feels like it was just 5 o'clock on Thursday evening. Yuck. I'm all about relaxing weekends, the kind where you actually enjoy the hours not spent at the office. Friday night I was in bed before 10pm. That is truly embarrassing, however, I was tired...so whatever! Saturday morning I helped Justin move to his new apartment. He now lives about 4 blocks away from me :) I also moved a patio table from my place over to the new office. Saturday night, Quinn and I went to Shane's new place in Playa Del Rey. Season and a bunch of their friends were there and we had a good time just hanging out and being social with peeps we have not seen in a long while. Sunday I met Teresa at the new office to check out some measurements for the move in a few weeks. We went to Home Depot and bought some 2x6's to lay in the garage so that if/when the garage floods, we won't lose important paperwork to water damage. I picked out my office (my room) and I love it! It's a good size and it's very private. And it has two windows that I can open if I want (the windows in this 20 story building that we are in currently do not open). There is a doggy door in the back door which opens to a cute, decent size, fenced-in backyard. I started thinking..maybe this summer I'll get a puppy. I can bring him to work with me. It would be so great! Everyone knows how much I love dogs...so we'll see. I'm definitely thinking about it.
Sunday afternoon I went to Bed Bath & Beyond with Justin. He bought $335 worth of stuff for his new place. So fun! I love that store....who wouldn't want to go crazy in a store like that if they could? I realize though now that Justin is picky! He has a hard time making a decision on things...I think we were in the store 1.5+ hours. That's good though. It's his stuff, he should be picky about it. :) I found some new bathroom stuff that I loved by Nicole Miller..might be re-doing the bathroom decor at my place soon! After the BBB trip, we went to Ralph's and picked up dinner makings. Season, Quinn, Justin and I all had dinner together and then the weekend was pretty much over. Here I am approaching lunchtime on Monday and I am looking forward to this weekend, so hopefully the week passes quickly! Lara is visiting and she gets into town on Friday night. Yippee!
Happy Birthday to my little sister, Candace, who turned 26 yesterday...GOLDEN Birthday this year!

Thoughts for a Wednesday

Am I making my own choices? Good ones? Am I being inspired anymore? I often find I need some form of creative inspiration in my life. Usually a good film, a good story, a beautiful photograph or a good song can do the trick..but lately I'm feeling uninspired. I rarely go to concerts these days. It used to be a big part of my life. Don't laugh. But connecting with a song in a live setting is one of my favorite escapes. I love to fall in love with a film as it's playing on the big screen, too. The escape, the 2 hours where I'm not thinking about anything but the film or the song..it's a pleasant place for me to be :)
My time is filled with quick and easy, the not so everlasting moments of inspiration. I ask myself what I can do to change it. I should spend some time with a child. They're such an innocent enhancement in my life. Or go to a museum, see a show, take a trip...see some new scenery.
I'll blog about all the boring stuff I do later...it's time to go to the gym now. Maybe a good playlist for the gym will be another quick and easy fix for now.

two one four o six - today!

Hope everybody's jammin some valentines lovers tunes today. (*pops-I think today is probably your favorite day in radio..love songs all day long!) I'm sure The Coast is playing either "The Way You Look Tonight" (Tony Bennett) or "God Only Knows" (Beach Boys) or "My Cherie Amour" (Sevie Wonder)! Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ...... the Coast!

Anyway, Happy Valentines Day everybody! It's just a hallmark holiday, but who cares? It's a day where everyone seems to be a little nicer, and that's not a bad thing.

blog blog blog

I suck at the blog updates lately. Can't seem to find 15 minutes where I actually want to write about what's going on. I wish I could say I've been travelling the world and I've been too busy to logon. However, that is not the case. I have been busy, though. Work is busier now that I've taken on more tasks. I'm handling everything from the assistant-administrative stuff to the office-managerial stuff to the accounts receivable and invoicing now. With all of that, I barely have time to do real agent work. It's a good thing I only have a few clients of my own! The office is moving next month to a house in Santa Monica. It's a cute little three bedroom house, and it's about 4 miles from where I live. We've been doing the 20 story office building-parking garage-elevator corporate thing for two years now and no one has ever really liked it. We belong in a small office setting, a house! In March, when the lease starts, I'll go by and take some pictures so you can see what it looks like.
Besides work being busier, things have been busy at home, too. Season has moved in and things are beginning to feel official at Shubes Castle! :) It's a little cramped with the three of us, but I think it's going to be fine for the next 4 months, when Q-Jo leaves us for Texas! My weekends are usually full...but with little errands here and there and spending time with Justin and my shubes. We have not really done anything worth writing about. Like I said it's all little errands and life. A weekend usually consists of this: We take trips to chipotle (my favorite place at the moment), watch movies on netflix, make dinner (usually something picked up at Whole Foods lately), watch TV, go to Target, go to Renee's to meet friends for a drink. Also, Justin's looking for a new place to live right now, so that's been interesting. Finding an apartment in a particular area, within a certain budget, while trying to meet three people's (he has 2 roommates) requirements is tougher than it sounds. California real estate and rentals..everything!..It's all too expensive here. It's one of the few things I hate about living here, and it makes me jealous of everyone back home that are buying houses and condos or that are paying so much less in rent. I read Jamie's blog pretty often and she is building a house on an acre lot near Dallas. I don't even want to know what that would cost out here!
Here's what I'm looking forward to in music. Belle and Sebastian have a new album called The Life Pursuit and I believe it's going to be out soon, maybe this coming week even. And although I'm not a fan of the show (I watched it off and on in the first season only), the soundtrack to the WB drama, One Tree Hill is about to be released. I think it's the show's second compilation. This compilation features music from Feeder, Nada Surf, Hot Hot Heat, and Beth Orton to name a few. That's about it for the moment. FYI - I was not impressed with the new Ashanti CD. Generally this is not my taste in music anyway, but I've always liked her. But this album sucked. I can't even remember the name of it either, that's how bad is is.
Well, my blogging ends here for today. Hopefully, I'll get back into the routine of writing here more often. Happy Thursday!
