Tuesday

That's pops at dinner last Friday night in Santa Monica. He had the seafood stew, if you can't tell from the pictures. The other picture is of him in front of his new office in El Segundo. We went there on Saturday and then cruised the Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach areas. It was HOT! Sunday was another hot day, but we were in Santa Barbara. I love Santa Barbara. It's so clean and pretty and it still has that "big city" feel in a small town. Besides hanging out with pops, not a lot is going on right now. Quinn has been in vegas for the last 5 days for a business trip and so I've been home alone for the most part. I netflixed "Alias" starting from the 1st season. I am completely hooked now. I have a lot to catch up on before this next season begins. I actually may not start watching it until I'm completely up to date with what is going on. I don't want to be confused or spoil anything!
Work is going good. It's a bit slow becasue of the upcoming holiday, but I know it's going to be busier than ever as soon as everyone is back from their vacations and the tv shows come back from hiatus. We are trying to help warner bros. find last minute theme songs for two of their 1/2 hour comedies airing this fall. One show is called Twins, and it's about 2 female fraternal twins who are completely opposite and end up running their family lingerie business. It sounds kind of dumb, but it's being created by the same guys who did will & grace. Another show of theirs airing this fall who also need a composer and theme song is called "4 Kings." It's about 4 new yorkers who have known each other since childhood...I think Seth Green is going to play one of the 4 guys. The show I am really looking forward to is Gray's Anatomy. 6 episodes aired last spring and it was picked up for another full 12 episodeseason, so i'm really excited about that. The show is really good, if you have not seen it! But another new show I'm excited about and think will do well is called "Inconceivable." I watched the pilot episode and it was good. It's about the lives of 6 or 7 people who work in a fratility clinic. There is some good drama in the first episode. The show that I think is going to be a huge teen hit is called "Reunion." It's about a group of friends who graduated from high school in 1980something. They all unite at one of the friend's funerals and the show takes place in flashbacks, telling how each of them ends up where they are now, etc. The pilot was also good and left a real cliff-hanger ending. Ok, for all who were just interested in what I just shared, you should trust my judgement because I predicted 'Desperate Housewives' was going to be huge after only reading the script to the 1st episode and look I was right, it's a huge hit!
So enough about work....I'm leaving for Houston on Friday and I'm excited to get out of here for a few days. I like my new place and I like being here in LA, etc. But it's always nice to go HOME and also see family and friends that I don't get to see but once or twice a year. Now that pops is here, maybe the fam will come visit us more often and I won't have to make the 3 hour flight that I hate so much. I know it's only 3 hours, but I hate flying, dread, dread it! But it beats the alternative...driving in the car for 21 hours.
Las Vegas, novemeber 18,19,20 is in the works. My friend, Season's little brother is turning 21 on November 19th, and I don't think there's a better place to celebrate your 21st birthday! He moved out here last February and lived with us for 5 months, so he's not just a friend's brother...we all became good friends. I love vegas and really look forward to a fun weekend of semi-debauchery every once in a while. Although, I'm old now and I can't really 'party' like it's 1999 anymore. If anyone wants to come party in vegas, it's an open-invitation to whomever wants to play! Send me an email and I'll let you know the details on where were staying and all that.
Ok, lunch is approaching. I'm starving so I am going to end it here. Hope your weeks are all going smoothly and everyone is getting ready for a long labor day weekend! Toodles

zeep zeep ze borp de bop zeep zerp

I just posted an entire blog entry. I hit preview to see what it would like, then i hit "BACK" and I lost the whole thing! Technically I think I manage ok, but when I make stupid minor errors I get extremeely frustrated! This would be considered a "stupid minor error." Anyway, let's start this all over again.

Pops is in town. I don't think I've posted since he got here. Here's a photo from last night.
He drove all the way over to Roxanne's (where I've been house-sitting this week), and took me to dinner. We went to Panera in studio city for soup and iced green tea. Dad also had to get some alkaseltzer. Real exciting stuff, right? :) The night before last, he came over to my apartment and we walked down to a thai restaurant near my house. The food was really good, but his was spicy and I don't think it settled too well, when it came time to get that rest he needed after travelling! Pops, if you're reading...I hope that alkaseltzer did the trick last night and you got a full 8.
I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight. Last night was the last night at Roxanne's. The dogs are great and I love them, but they woke me up several times last night. Lulu got a hold of the avocados from the tree in the backyard. She ate at least 4. I found 4 pits this morning! That girl is going to get fat eating all of those avocados. Poor Henry, he can't see, probably didn't know what was going on. He must have thought she was getting some super treatment with late night snacks and he wasn't getting anything! I gave him some extra bones this morning. :)
Last night at Roxanne's I did some blog surfing. There are some crazies out there, some funnies and some pretty normal people, too. A mix, really. One of the blogs I found had some of these DE-motivational posters. This one was my favorite.
If you're ever bored, go surfing through strangers blogs. You can read some really interesting and funny stuff! Just click on "next blog" when visiting my page (in the top right hand corner of the screen). I think it goes on forever. Anyone and everyone who makes their blog public is available to read.
Another place to visit when you're bored is MySpace. This link is also located in the links section of my sidebar. I have a friends section at my space, if you look around, you'll see the spaces of familiar people like my sisters, Ginger & Daphne. Also my friends, Quinn & Shannon, and many many bands and artists. It's a fun place to look around. Check it out! Leave my sister, Ginger a message at her space and get her to go through construction. Her space is too plain! ;)
Don't even ask about the title of today's entry! I've been laughing since last night...I got a message from an old high school friend through this alumni site that I'm on, it's called cyfallsalumni. Anyway, an old friend, who will remain nameless sent me a message. He is married now, is expecting his first child in October and I have not heard from him in years. In high school, he had a group of friends, who I became friends with. Anyway, they all talked in this weird language that they made up mostly having to do with the word "Zeep." If I could host an audio clip here, it would make more sense. You have to hear it to really think it's funny. Well the title of this post is one of the things he wrote in the message. I have not heard that in years, I was laughing forever!
Has anyone attened a high school reunion? My 10 year is coming up next year. I don't think I'll be going. Maybe I'll go to the 20 or 30, but it just seems like 10 years was not that long ago. Anyway, we'll see what happens and how this reunion gets planned for next year. All I know is that I'm glad I'm not in charge of that!
I might be back later in the day, if it stays slow here at work, but if I'm not I'll definitely be back next week to post about the weekend.
To everyone who is reading...have a fantastic weekend. It's the last one in August! Can you believe it, already?!

Cool Play

Here are some pictures from the weekend! Adam and Season

and Quinn and I. They were taken on our drive up to the venue. This next picture is from the show.
I only took a few and none of them turned out great, so I'm only posting this one. I took this picture during the performance of "Yellow." Giant yellow balloons floated and bounced around during this song. Over-all the show was good, but getting there and getting home was a nightmare. It took us 1 hr and 20 minutes to go 3/4 of a mile. The people directing traffic for this Irvine amphitheater are smart! I don't think I'll be seeing another show at this venue. Now, to note one other thing about the show...I was a little surprised to see how the fans have changed. I saw Coldplay in 2003 in a much smaller venue and the fans all seemed to be a lot like me. I was standing in line for the bathroom before the show started and I was listening to some other women's conversations. One woman said to the other "The new Black-Eyed Peas record is so good." I was standing in line for the bathroom at a coldplay concert and there is a fan of the band who also is a fan of the Black-Eyed Peas. This would not have happened 2 or 3 years ago. But Coldplay is bigger, they are becoming an Icon band and their fans are not necessarily changing..they are just growing in numbers. It makes me sad, but I guess I should be glad for the band and their sucess. Anyway, the show was still good and Chris Martin was as charasmatic as ever. Sorry I don't have better pictures!

Getting the hang of this blog

I'm getting the hang of this stuff! Finally....It's almost been a month! I figured out how to get free web-hosting photo stuff for my profile picture. Now that I know what I'm doing, it's easy.
Alrighty, GUESS WHO'S 29, TODAY?! That's right folks, it's the birthday girl...the girl who knows everything, she's got gadgets and gizmos aplenty, she's got whozits and whatzits galore, you want thing-a-ma-bobs, she's got twenty, but who cares, no big deal, she wants more....she wants to live where the people are, she wants to see, wants to see 'em dancin, walking around on those...what'dya call 'em - Oh, feet. Flippin her fins, she don't get too far. Legs are required for jumpin, dancin. Strollin' along down a - What's that word again? Street. Up where they walk, Up where they run, Up where they stay all day in the sun, Wanderin' free, Wish she could be, Part of that world!!!!!!!!
Yeah that's right everybody, Daphne, our little mermaid is 29 today!!!!!! Haha. Happy birthday, Ds Nuts.
In other family related news, Pops got word of his Cali arrangements. He's heading to LA on Wednesday...welcome to Los Angeles, Pops...what's your dream? Everybody's got a dream! Just a quick get to know the office visit this week, but sounds like he'll be a working resident after labor day. Sweet!
This weekend is going to be a good one...the long, anticipated COLDPLAY show is tomorrow night. I know some of you are jealous and I know some of you are like cold what? Well, for the excited ones...I will have a full review (and maybe photos too-depending if they let us bring our cameras in) for Monday's blog. For the others...get with it, it's time you crawled out from under that rock, or should I say from under that oldies radio station? :)
Sunday I am planning to visit my buddy, tivo. He has recorded some quality programs for me that I must watch. :) Laguna Beach...So You Think You Can Dance..hmm, what else?
Then next week I am back at Roxanne's house to sit for the pups til Friday. I kind of miss them actually. They are such good dogs and very lovable. I've invited my dad to see "The 40 year Old Virgin" with me next week, but I have not received a response..so I'm thinking that it might not be his kind of movie. He surprises us all once in a while, though.
Here's a few surprises from pops over the years:
-He loved "Closing Time" by semisonic when it first came out (I think he still likes it)
-He loved the song "How Bizarre" by I don't even know who it's by?
-He laughs hysterically out loud when watching "Austin Powers" (he likes mini-me) :)
And here is a new random fact from my sister Ginger: She informed me she likes Classic Rock! Her favorite song by Pink Floyd is "Comfortably Numb." If anyone does not know what to get her for Chirtmas.. I would suggest THIS GEM
:) Just kidding, Ginger!
Well, well the weekend is nearing and it's time to say farewell. Until my next post...stay cool, all my bloggin readers!

Scrapping

The picture I've posted here is an idea for a page in Riley's scrap book. Her mom, Molly is going to send me a year's worth of photos for a book that I'm going to make for her...Riley Age 0-1! This is just one idea that I had...and it's rough, too. I've got to do some exploring for some new creative pages. I've ordered the book from Donna Downey and so I'm hoping for some ideas. I also can't decide if I want to make her a themed book or do completely different pages...lot's to think about.

I also have posted a few pictures taken by one of my friends (Shannon Keating). She went camping last weekend in Yosemite and I thought these pictures were really beautiful and decided to share! Shannon is also featured in one them, if you don't know her. Thanks for sharing Shannon. Thats too many SH sounds...

Well Wednesday is a pretty exciting day around here (not really). 2 people from my office are in Malibu for an afternnon meeting, 1 is on vacation in Hawaii, and another is getting an MRI today. There are only 7 people in my office, so there are only 3 of us here right now. And we're all working very hard! I can see how working from home or on your own, by yourself must be hard. I need there to be other working people around me to keep me motivated so that I actually stay productive...so I don't think working from home is going to be in my future...unless of course I'm working as a mommy. :) Which is obviously not happening anytime soon, either. It's starting to sound better everyday though....a full-time, stay-at-home mom. Candace!~when are you going to start popping those kids out?! ;) I know, I know..probably not for a while. I'm just wishful thinking.
Ok, so I'm counting the minutes until this day is over. I want to go home because at home, waiting for me is a movie from Netflix: THE COMPANY. It stars Neve Campbell and it's about a dance company. That's about all I know, but it's enough for me to want to see it. Tomorrow I have MILLION DOLLAR BABY due to arrive from Netflix, which I've already seen, but not since it was in theaters. Quinn hasn't seen it yet, so I'm happy to watch again--I liked it a lot the first time.
So I'm sure you've noticed from my previous post, I finally got my links in my posts to work! And thanks for confirming, MikeG. Ginger, by the way..I just relaized if you and Mike get married your initials are going to be GGG! Hahaha. Well, VGG technically, but who calls you, Virginia. If you're lost, I'm talking about my sister, my youngest sister, Ginger. Her boyfriend's last name begins with a G, and Ginger's middle name beings with a G....sooooooo..ok, if you didn't get that, It's over now. I'm done rambling on that.
Speaking of names, my boss is due to have a boy (his 3rd) in 2-3 weeks. This entire time during the pregnancy they were saying that they want to name him Andreas and call him Drew, but then today he said they want to name him Eris (yeah that's not a typo-ERIS with an S). What kind of name is that? They are afraid people will call him Andy, which I don't know why that's a big deal. I worry more what people are going to call him with a name like Eris. But whatever...obviously, it's not really my concern.
Is anybody worried about the idiot that ran over the crosses in Crawford to make some kind of statement to the protestors in Crawford? Ok, here is my view on it and if you're not fmailiar with this story...here's a little backstory to fill you in...some lady is upset that she was not aksed to be addressed by the president for the 2nd time because she lost her son in Iraq. So she has decided to go visit mr.W in crawford and camp out with her other friends who have nothing better to do but camp outside of w's ranch and protest this issue. Ok, first, I'm sorry that you lost your son and I'm sorry you don't feel like he's giving you enough attention and acknowlgement because your son was killed, but there are MABY MANY others who did not even get a FIRST acknowledgement from the pres, so why does she feel the need that she should have received 2 acknowledgements? Ok, so anyway her and her peeps out in crawford built white crosses to represent the loss of their children in Iraq and lined them up along the highway or road for W and everyone else to see. Ok, then I guess some guy who does not like these protestors being in crawford decides he's going to run over their crosses to make a statement? What kind of statement is that? You know, I don't agree with what she's protesting or actually it's not that I don't agree, I just can't relate and I don't really understand what she thinks she's going to gain from getting the president's acknowledgment, but I certainly wouldn't drive over her son's cross, symbolizing something very important to her. It sends the wrong message and gives Texas a WORSE reputation. Someone at work said "crazy texans, they're crazy....they're not southern like the real south in mississippi or georgia because those people are religious and they would never drive over a cross." So then they went on to add that they were sure this person drives a pick-up truck with a gun rack with numerous guns in the truck, etc. The stereotypes get worse because of idiots like this guy. Notthat I want to move back ot Texas or anything ;)

My older Sister, Daphne seems to be handling everything ok in NY. A few job prospects and she even has a waitressing gig lined up to fall back on if she needs it. Good for her. I'll be excited to go visit her once she settles in and gets around on her own for a while. NY is such a neat city. I have only been there once and was lucky enough to go before September 11th. I was actually there in August of that same year..one month before the tragedies. But, even still, the city is amazing. I don't think there's any place quite like it. I had so many expectations and ideas about the city beforehand, but my 1st experience turned out to be different from everything I thought it would be... but it's something I'll never forget. Yeah NY...Daphne, can't wait to come visit you!

Well the ink is running out.... ;) I'll be back to write more when something happens. G'night for now.-RP

Under the Milky Way

toolshedmedia02.com/ts/thechurch-utmw.mp3 The Church's acoustic version of "Under The Milky Way" is available for you to listen to. It's always been a favorite song of mine, and I love this version. If you've seen the film, "Donnie Darko" you might remember it was featured in the film and on the soundtrack. Anyway, I've posted the link, if you're interested in listening to it.

In other music news, Abandoned Pools has a new album out! In 2002 I fell in love with their first LP, which was called "Humanistic." Their new album is called "Armed to The Teeth" and I am excited to hear it. I am also excited about seeing Coldplay in 6 days! As filter says, we are living on planet coldplay this summer...I saw a set-list from a recent show and I think it's going to be a pretty good show if the set-lists are the same. I'm slightly upset that I may never see "Rush of Blood" live. They didn't play it at the show I saw a few years ago and I don't see it on this list, either. Oh well, I'm sure it must be tough to pick the songs for your concert. If I were in a band and I was sick of all of my songs except a few and it were up to me, I would probably play the only 3 I liked over and over again (like "on repeat").

More music news, here is the link to some new music from a band I'm currently into. www.clapyourhandssayyeah.com/mp3/Home_On_Ice.mp3 They are called "Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah." Long and strange name, but it probably made them stand out amongst a lot of the other bands they kind of sound like. One of those bands would be The Arcade Fire. They sound a bit like them to me. I see on their website they are playing at The Troubadour in October, so it might be worth going to. This fall looks promising for concerts! Coldplay in August, Stellastarr in September, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah in October, Death Cab in November. :)
Another new band I've been getting into is Editors. They are from the UK and were introduced to me from a friend in the UK (thanks, Michelle). Their debut album is called "The Back Room." If you like Interpol, I would suggest listening to this record (cd, whatever). Check out their website here: www.editorsofficial.com , and listen to the track "Munich."
For some reason my links are not showing up in my posts, so if there is a problem with any of these links, I'm sorry for the inconvenience! But you can always GOOGLE these bands and get the info on your own (until my wonderful 'links' are working). I figured out the links on my sidebar, I should be able to figure out the codes for the links inside my blog posts!
Some of my older friends (and I don't mean older as they are older, I mean that as in friends for a long time older..)...some of my older friends say that I've become a music snob. I don't think I have become a snob, I've just really become interested in what I listen to. I no longer have a high tolerance for "top 40" RADIO music. I do occasionally like a song that is played on the radio, but for the most part I highly dislike most radio station's formatting. There are a few exceptions...I'm beginning to discover that I like stations that dedicate their playlists only to music from the 80s or only from the 90s. I also like some indie stations. Anyway, I am only sorry to those friends who are still listening to the "top 9 at 9" or whatever it was that we were exposed to. I blame (and thank) my current music love and knowledge on travelling and reading. First, I love a lot of the music from the UK, because of the traveling I was able to do. I was exposed to 6 or 7 music video channels on mom and dad's sky tv....many, many videos from bands that don't get US exposure. Believe it or not, I've also learned so much from reading music magazines! So there, I'm a music snob...but to all of my friends who are not music snobs...PLEASE QUIT listening to the radio. Most stations only play 11 and 12 songs a day. Between the commercials and talk, the rotations is only 11 or 12 songs..the same ones! So if you're loving that *new* Killers song (it's not so new), it's because you've heard it at least 5 times a day!

**Hey MikeG...thanks for commenting! Of course you can visit my blog, and please do comment! It's fun, you should create your own blog, (like you said) for when you are away at sea. I'm surprised Ginger doesn't have a blog.

I forgot to tell you that I went to a new brunch place yesterday. It's called Hugo's and it's in West Hollywood. The food was excellent, and we saw 3 separate celebrities...Busy Phillips, Chloe Sevingy, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt (we actually saw her at Ikea..oops).

That's all for this Monday....

Busy Friday

I've been so busy at work today, I shouldn't even be here typing in this blog, but I needed a break from the day's work.
I'm going to a show at The House of Blues tonight to see Howie Day with Quinn, courtesy of Season Kent, courtesy of Kevin Wang (BMG). Thanks! That is one great thing about this business..there are free tickets thrown around all of the time. And it's LA, just about everyone plays a show in this city on their US tour, Lucky me! I just found out Deathcab for Cutie is playing at the wiltern in November. I have to get my tickets tomorrow morning when they go on sale! I am super-excited about seeing them live. They are one of my favorite bands, and with a new CD out at the end of this month, it will be the perfect amount of time for me to get to know the new record before the show.
Here is a list of things I want (I didn't say I could get them all, so let's just call it a wishlist :) ):

-Apple Mac Mini computer, 1.42 Ghz with the superdrive!
-Book: Decorative Journals, By Donna Downey
-Tan color Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star shoes
-Music: Plans by Deathcab For Cutie (August 30th)
-A bedskirt to match my Nicole Miller beddding

*someone* said to talk about life and people and such...

and not just about what I eat, where I work out, etc...so this post is dedicated to that someone! Because there may be more like it and there may not, it may take some time for me to put my deeper thoughts in this blog! The photo/sketch in this post is of my mother. And everyone who is here and reading this probably knows me, so I don't have to explain what happened to her and why I'm posting what I'm about to post..... These are my thoughts about my mother and my mother's life...well my more recent thoughts (they change all of the time).

Was she stuck somewhere, more days than not? With the kids, with laundry and dishes and dirty toilets and crumbs on the floor? The same thing day after day.... did she desire change and travel? Did her interests revolve around children who needed the same thing all the time for their own security? Did she wonder 'what is the point of life when you work all day?' and did she wonder... 'what is the point of life when it is the same, every day, and you are never learning, never growing, never discovering anything new? what is the point when you are so tired at the end of every day that you can barely do what you like to do, let alone what you need to do?' I wonder how did she bring a sense of adventure into her suburban life when the only place she had to drive was to an elementary school, a library, a grocery store, and perhaps mcdonalds? How did she live the life she wanted to lead? Did she ever think to herself, 'I am lazy. It is too hard to go out with four kids.'? Did she ever think to herself, 'how can I make it work in the short time I have here?' How often did she think about doing something drastic? Did she know she was going to break the mold of our american existence?... Her children's american existence?...Her decision heavily influencing our father's decision to move to Europe. I wonder what her days were like in London? Without cooking for 6 and cleaning for 6 and shopping for 6, and only herself and my father to worry about. Except I know she didn't worry only about herself and my father. She always cared for us no matter where she was. I wonder if she knew that it didn't matter if we lived in a big city, or travelled to and from by train or bus, or if we had to even walk, or if we lived in a high-rise, or an old & small apartment, or if we lived in the country, in a one stoplight town where everyone knew us...I wonder if she knew it didn't matter? But I wonder if it mattered to her, and I wonder why?

Fires and such

It took me over an hour to get to Roxanne's house last night after work. What is usually only 20-30 minute drive (with traffic) was about 1.3 hours last night! There were some fires in Nichol's Canyon, which diverted a lot of the traffic onto Mulholland and Laurel Cnyn. After spending that much time in the car and in one spot, I wished I was on my way home and not on my way to Roxanne's. At that point, I was grouchy and hungry and thirsty and I just wanted to chill. Soonafter arriving at Roxanne's she went over all of the dog's medication with me one more time and showed me around the house and then it was time to leave again! I drove her to the airport, then stopped at my apartment to pick-up some things and to eat dinner finally. (By the way, at the airport I saw some paparrazi outside the terminal where I was dropping Roxanne off. There were cameras flashing like crazy, and then I saw a young girl getting out of a limousine. It looked like Lindsay Lohan. But it was dark and I couldn't see that well. I immediately felt sorry for her. It's a pain enough to fly without the unecessary photographers in your way). It was 11:00 oclock by the time I got back to Roxanne's. I played with the dogs for a little while, watched Friends and Will and Grace on the tube and then went to sleep. However, the house next door was all lit up, and I mean BRIGHT. Roxanne's backyard and window to her backyard look out into her neighbor's front yard and pond area. Apparently they are filming some show called "Hack" next door. I've never heard of it...and I wasn't that interested, because I was just tired and their bright lights didn't help. It was like trying to sleep with the kind of lights from a ball-game, stadium lights shining in your window. Oh well, they finally finished shooting for the day at 3:30am, and Lulu made sure I was aware. She barked at every peep until they were gone. But, they must have just been taking "lunch" because they were back at 6:30am ready for the next day's shoot. I got up around 7am to drive the dogs over to the park and take them for their daily walk. Poor Henry, he could barely lift his back legs to get in the car. But he made it. They walked around the track at the park twice and we headed home. I fed them each a scoop of dog food and half a can of wet food, plus Henry had his insulin shot and his prilosec and eye drops, and they each had some pink pill that I forgot what it was called. So then I took my shower, got dressed and here I am at the office.
On my way in this morning, I heard some disturbing news on the radio. A girl threw herself to her death from a stretched escalade limousine on the 405 at 5am this morning. I don't know why and no one else does either, but I feel so bad for the people who were on the road this morning that either witnessed it or perhaps drove over her. That is something you don't ever expect to happen or expect to see! I don't know what is wrong with people? I mean I can't imagine what could be so terrible that you would throw yourself out of a moving car on the highway.
Today is my best friend, Molly's birthday. She is 27 today. Molly and I used to spend almost all of our time together. We met in junior high and were friends instantly. Throughout high school we remained close and we share almost every memory. Our stories from high school are pretty much identical because we were practically "attached at the hip." She lives in Pensacola now with her husband, Chris and their *almost* 1 yr old baby, Riley. The last 8 or 9 years we've seen very little of each other, but we still talk to each other on the phone like we see each other every day. To me, those are the best friendships. The kind where no matter how much time passes, you can always count on that person to be there, and when they are there it's like you never lost a minute. Anyway, Happy Birthday Molly!
I wish I had a scanner here, I'd scan in a photo of Molly that I know she'd be proud to know it was published on the internet. :)
I have to get back to some work, but I'll be back later in the day to post more!

Bloggin It Up!

My weekend is over and it is now Monday, which comes right after Sunday...so you must know how I feel about that ;). The weekend was good though. Friday night after work Quinn and I went down to Sonny McLeans's pub. It's in the neighborhood, has a good vibe, and was not too crowded, so we liked that! We each had 2 beers, went home and then pretty much straight to bed. Saturday morning we went to check out the gym. We are Bally's members, and have been going to the studio city location or the one downtown in the macy's center. I've been excited to check out this Bally's on the westside ever since I knew I was going to move. I don't think I was ever before so excited to work out! The gym is big, very industrial-looking, with many levels, black and silver everywhere. It also has a big pool, if I ever decide to do the swim-workouts (don't count on it). I wish I owned a Pre-Cor. I would be in super-shape. I actually really like working out on the pre-cor, it's geting to the gym that is the hardest part for me. Then again, if I had one in my room, I'd probably say "it's getting on the machine that's the hardest part." Anyway, the workout was tough, I felt so slow and out of it. But I went again on Sunday and I actually felt better. I can't believe this blog is all about my work-out so far. So to finish up telling you about my weekend....Saturday late afternoon, quinn and I went over to Shannon's place. We caught up on all the tivo'd programs....seconds from disaster, laguna beach, so you think you can dance . I can't believe I'm watching these awesome shows. I drove us home afterwards, at 11:30 on a Saturday night on Sunset blvd. What a treat that was, getting to see all of the people out on a Saturday night on the strip! I'm actually not serious, if you thought for a second that I really thought that was a treat! :) I did see Theo from one of the road rules cast in the car next to me though. I think I've seen more people from the real world/road rules than any other celebrities since I've been in LA. They are everywhere and always together, too. It's like they had so much fun in high school that they try to live in it everyday. So weird....I don't understand their "fame." They didn't do anything special...america just watched a breif part of their lives on tv. And not a very REAL part of their lives either. Yesterday, I went to the gym and layed by the pool with Season and Quinn. We walked down to the coffee bean and I got a chocolate summer blended drink. We also went to Mrs. Fields where I had a chocolate chip cookie cup! It was amazing...and I'm not sure it's good that this shop is within walking distance of my apartment either. We tried to watch The Aviator last night before bed, but didn't make it all the way through. Maybe tonight, we will watch the 2nd half. This is the 3rd time I've tried to watch this movie. Is or has anyone else had trouble watchig this film?

The photo posted here is of my sisters, Candace and Ginger, with their other halfs, Mike and Eric. Front seat: Mike and Ginger, back seat: Candace and Eric. Ginger emailed me some pictures from her trip this past weekend. If you didn't already know, Candace and Eric, and Ginger live in Houston. Mike is in the military and he is currently stationed in VA, but is about to leave for duty somewhere that I'm not exactly sure about. Mike is visiting Ginger in Houston right now, so they took a weekend trip to San Antonio, and I believe that picture is a before picture. Because if you could see the other ones, it appears as though they might have gone out on the town ....the "after" pictures don't include too many smiles. ;) One in particular of Candace says it all! Speaking of family, I also chatted briefly with Daph yesterday. She was in Delaware, still on her way to NYC. I'm sure she is there now and probably all moved in, too. I'll update within week. No word from pops about his job opportunity in LA yet. He says he is most probably going to know something this week though.

I start house/dog sitting tomorrow for my co-worker, Roxanne. She sent me an email with all of the details that I'll need to know and be responsible for while she's away. It was a bit overwhelming to be honest, but I'm sure I'll be fine. I just hope the dogs are OK! Henry and Lulu are Briards. They are big dogs, 8 and 10 years old. the older one, Henry is blind and diabetic. He's got so many medications and has to be given insulin shots twice a day...poor guy! Their life expectancy rate is 10-12 years, so I'm a bit worried for Henry. I just hope nothing awful happens while his mom is away, for all our sakes. Her house is in the hills, off Laurel Canyon and Lookout mountain. The house is older and really unique, so it will be fun to stay..and I'll get a chance to do my laundry, too! But I will miss my bed and my own things, as I always do when I'm away. I've just been asked again this morning to house/dog sit again for her at the end of the month. I've posted a picture of what they look like for those that are curious.

Well that is going to be the end of my blog for now...I may be back later with more exciting info or I may not ;) I know everyone is waiting because my life is so interesting... Hope everyone is good!

This is a picture of Mocha! Candace sent me some pictures this morning. He is so cute....I can't wait to meet him. How often do you wish you could start a day over? For me not too often...but today was one of those days! I locked myself out of my apartment this morning, but luckily I had my car keys on a separate key chain and they were in my purse (which was locked out, with me, thankfully). So I was able to leave this morning and get to work, but my key to the garage that is on my other keychain was locked inside of my apartment. So I couldn't get to my car! I had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to drive out of the garage to let me in! It was a little frustrating. It reminded me of when I was kid and I would get locked out of the house after school. Like when you would just stand there, all sweaty, just off your bike, books and book bag thrown on the concrete, and a door with a glass window to tease you about how you are just on the other side and so close! It was always the cat that would get me though....there's wilby sitting there in the back window, just relaxed, inside in the air conditioning just staring me, and I'm wishing I could somehow teach him to turn the lock because then I could get inside and get that cold glass of water. Because that's all you really want...after you're inside, you're right back outside again playing with your friends. You're like mad at you mom and your dad for having to be at work because you can't get inside and then go back out to play! Hahaha. Anyway, so that was what it was like. I was standing there just on the other side of the door (I could even hear people with their keys..sucha tease)...but after waiting just 10 minutes (which felt like 30!), I ended up being about 15 minutes late to work, so not so bad after-all!

I've been pretty busy today at work. So far I've set up 3 meetings for my clients. 2 of them are for an Ashley Judd film called Come Early Morning. The other meeting is for a film called Unknown, it is basically Memento all over again. For a Friday, (and for a Friday in August) it has been busier than I thought it would be. August is our slowest month. Television is still on haiutus, and most of the shows that are set to air for the fall season already have the music decisions made. So we just kind of wait til everyone gets back from their vacations and they start working again. Features and indie films are what keep us alive during the slower periods. However, the process of working and submitting music for a feature film or indie film is different. Things take longer and though it is a big chunk of change because the fees are higher, TV's smaller but more consistent fees keep us paid and are definitely relied on!

I was hoping to hit up target this weekend to get a few things for the new place, but I'm not as rich as I thought I was after checking my balance online today :( Oh well, there's always next weekend, and after a new paycheck. Looks like I will be laying by the pool this weekend instead. Hopefully the weather permits (umm, it's california...the weather always permits!). I tried to take pictures of my new place last night, but my camera batteries were dead. The pictures for the blog will have to wait until next week.
I'm waiting to hear from my older sis, Daphne that she has made it to NYC and her move went OK. Maybe I should call her. Can't wait for some pictures, too, to post them here in the blog. I talked to Matt (Niemann) this morning. He and Abbey are back from Mexico. He said they had the best time, they did some scuba-diving and a lot of honeymoon relaxing...they had a private jacuzzi in their room on the balcony! They are back in San Marcos and back to real life :) When I get some pictures from him, I'll also post one here too!
I don't know who all is reading my blog, but it would be nice if you would post some comments, please. I'd like to have them for my scrap-book journal. Please comment whenever :) I know someone is reading my blog..it has an internal counter and I can see how many times that it is viewed. I know I'm not viewing that much!
Well that is all for now. I'm off to lunch and hopefully the next 6 hours will fly by and time for the weekend to begin! adios

Thursday....almost Friday!

Here is a picture of the shubes! I thought I'd share a recent picture of the people I've talked about in my blog so far. These are my my "shubes" (friends). L-R: Shannon, Quinn, Me and Season. This picture was taken on Quinn's Birthday (May 28th) of this year at a local restaurant called Cobras and Matadors.

Well, last night after work, I picked up Quinn and we went to the grocery store! It was an exciting adventure to Ralph's. This particular Ralph's is rated #1 (as quinn told me afterwards - the cashier was very friendly and he even gave her a new club card, and informed her it was a "senior citizen" card-so she could get a bigger dicount!). I didn't even get that much at the store, just the essentials, and a few other much needed things. I ended up spending $188 on just the essentials! Jeez things are getting expensive...but I am glad to get back into cooking and packing a lunch. The fats (fast) food ban is now back on. Speaking of food and cooking, check out this link online: www.chefsinc.net. It's where Quinn and I are going to take a cooking class....a "singles cooking class." It's kind of pricy so I am planing to just pick out my favorite menu and take only one. It sounds like fun, I'm excited.

I just got invited to have dinner with my roommate and her co-worker (Marsha) at her house tonight. Steak and garlic mashed potatoes. How can anyone pass that up?! Well unless of course, you don't eat meat!

Has anyone else cruised other blogs on this site? I was just doing it earlier today....there are some strange people out there! Though I did find some amusing one s that kept my interest for longer than the normal internet-browsing second. I've also been trying all morning to update my "links" section of this blog on the right side-bar, but I'm having a difficult time...the "help" instructions here are not so helpful. They are extremely vague. A little more time though and I'm sure I will have figured it out.

So I was just having a conversation with my boss about how funny Vince Vaughn is in Wedding Crashers...we were both laughing about a particular scene and I found this quote on the internet from Vince Vaughn's character: Jeremy Klein: [sigh] Janice, I apologize to you if I don't seem real eager to jump into a forced awkward intimate situation that people like to call dating. I don't like the feeling. You're sitting there, you're wondering do I have food on my face, am I eating, am I talking too much, are they talking enough, am I interested I'm not really interested, should I play like I'm interested but I'm not that interested but I think she might be interested but do I want to be interested but now she's not interested? So all of the sudden I'm getting, I'm starting to get interested... And when am I supposed to kiss her? Do I have to wait for the door cause then it's awkward, it's like well goodnight. Do you do like that ass-out hug? Where you like, you hug each other like this and your ass sticks out cause you're trying not to get too close or do you just go right in and kiss them on the lips or don't kiss them at all? It's very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you're just really wondering are we gonna get hopped up enough to make some bad decisions? Perhaps play a little game called "just the tip". Just for a second, just to see how it feels. Or, ouch, ouch you're on my hair.

Well that's going to be the end of today's post....til tomorrow, adios amigos!

Wednesday

It's Wednesday...I just typed a new blog entry and accidentally hit the back button in my browser and I lost the entire thing! I am completely frustrated now, but I will try this again.

So I am up and running now with internet and email at the office. Spent 3 days without it because our router and power supply fried on us. It was hell....working in 1995! I've become so dependant on the internet and email that I really felt like I was out of touch with the world. I read or heard or something the other day that parents are having to teach their children how to use a pay phone because they are so foreign to them, and the children are teaching their parents how to use their cell phones! Anyway, so a lot has happened since Friday.

I spent most of my weekend packing and living out of a suitcase at Shannon's new place in West Hollywood. Quinn and I decided last week that we would stay at Shannon's place with her while we were coordinating our 2 day move to Brentwood. And I'm very glad that we did because it was nice and cozy at Shannon's. Saturday and Sunday we packed and cleaned. Monday night after work we moved everything to our new apartment. The move went pretty smooth, but my muscles and almost every inch of my body seem to tell me otherwise! Quinn and I have already started a list of things we need ...it keeps getting longer, but I'm sure within the month we will get everything we need and boxes will begin to disappear. The place will soon feel like home! We already like our neighborhood...and looking forward to doing some exploring soon, too.

My sister Daphne is flying from Houston to Atlanta today and driving from Atlanta to New York tomorrow...she's moving to the city. If you're reading, Daphne..try to stay awake OK! I know how you are and you can fall asleep anywhere! Anyway, good luck and I can't wait to see pictures. Send them and I will post them here in my blog.

Upcoming plans... August 20th I am going to see Coldplay in Irvine with my friends and fellow coldplay fans, Season, Quinn and Adam. It should be a good show even though X&Y was not the big hit we hoped it would be....although, who could follow up with something even better than 'Parachutes' and 'A Rush of Blood to the Head'? Though, I do like the record and it's not bad..it's just not comparable to the first 2 albums. Anyway enough about Coldplay. I am also planning to visit the fam for Labor Day weekend. Although I've just learned I may only be visiting Ginger, Candace and Eric (and miss daisy and candace's new kitty, mocha). Dad is possibly considering a temporary work assignment in California....close to me! I'm waititng to hear the details!

Here are some recent movies that I've seen & that I liked: Must Love Dogs - cute and entertaining, and a little on the cheesy side..but how can you not like John Cusack and Diane Lane? The March of the Penguins - I really enjoyed this documentary. It was the perfect amount of information and it wasn't too long so I was totally entertained without realizing I was learning so much! ;) The Island - I was pleasantly surprised with this film, knowing nothing about it....it was full of action, futuristic, and I even laughed a few times. Wedding Crashers - Vince Vaughn has proven himself in this role to be one of the funiest comedic actors today! At least I think so. I can't wait to watch this one on DVD over and over again. I also recently saw Playing By Heart - It's an older one (98), with a lot of well-known actors. It was pretty good.

The picture in this blog is of my best friend, Molly's little girl. Her name is Riley and she is almost 1 year old (august 21st). She is a cutie! I've only met her once, but I'm able to see so many pictures of her because Molly is so good about updating her website with new and current photos ( www.rileyann.babywindow.com ). Happy Birthday (almost) RILEY!

Well it's time for lunch and I'm hungry...so that is all for now.
