Wednesday Night

It's wednesday night and we're in Delaware at the beach. We were here last weekend with Daphne, but the trip was extremely short, mostly due to traffic on the way down here. EVERYONE decided to drive to the beach on Saturday. It took double the amount of time it normally takes to get here. We went to dinner and the grocery store on Saturday night and then we all crashed sometime around 11 or 12. On Sunday Daphne and I went to the beach for a few hours. It was packed! There are some pictures on my flickr site so you can see what I mean. We had just enough time to get back to the condo, eat lunch, shower and get back on the road. Daphne had to catch her bus back to NYC that evening, Justin had to get back for work on Monday and I had to get back for two interviews on Monday. So we were at home on Sunday and Monday night, and we came back here last night. Traffic was much better on a Tuesday afternoon!! Today we got up, had breakfast, went to the community center and worked out in the fitness center. We got ready, ate lunch and then went crabbing on the bay, which is on the property behind the condos and the community center. We caught some, but not enough to keep. It was fun for a while, but I think we were tired of only catching the little ones and it was HOT. We got a little sunburned, too. We went to the store afterwards to buy more food for the rest of the week, came home and made dinner. I went back to the community center and worked out and then I was going to swim in the hot tub afterwards, but it was dark and no one was around and I was kind of scared so I just came back. Justin and Blake went to the beach to surf fish. Blake caught a baby shark. Blake is down for the week right now, and Cassie, Tyler and Nathan are here right now, too. Except they aren't really here at the moment because Cassie had to leave to help Eric with a flat tire earlier today. She took the boys with her when she left, so it's just been Justin, Blake and I, hanging out today. They are on their way back right now though. Tomorrow I want to go swimming at the pool and work out some more in the fitness center. I've not been eating as good here as I've been eating at home over the last month, so I'm trying to make sure I atleast keep up the activity!
We're here until Saturday, but we're staying in Delaware until Sunday night because Justin is going to his fantasy sports league draft on Sunday.
I had two interviews this week, as I mentioned. One of them was for a nanny position which I didn't get, so I'll just not even go into detail on that one. The other one was for an assistant catering director position in DC. The job is located on the Catholic University campus. I think I did pretty good and I feel pretty confident that I will be considered for a position there. The only bad points are that the hours are long and I'd have a long commute on the metro, which will also cost me roughly $8/day. But the job sounds good and I enjoyed meeting the people who work there. If given the opportunity, I'd like to at least give it a shot and see how I like it. Hope to hear something by the end of the week! I'm already looking for other jobs though...I've got to keep looking in case this one doesn't come through.
Well, I'm getting sleepy and I've run out of things to write about. I hope everybody is doing OK! Good night.

Banner

I got the banner size right, but I can't figure out the photo part...as you can see it's doubling and not stretching it, like I want it to. There will be more editing, but until then, double banner!

It's August!

and we're already in the 10th day of the month! The summmer is seriously flying by. Which is just fine with me....because I LOVE Fall. Today is my best friend, Molly's birthday. She is 28 today :) Happy Birthday, Molls! I tried to change my banner on my blog and I did, but I can't figure out the correct marginal codes to make it look right. So for now, and until I get it fixed, my banner is just a big picture of New York's central park. Someone in our group took this picture when we were there in May. I love it!
I don't have a lot of new and interesting things to say since I last blogged. Sorry! I'm still looking for a job, we got our stuff from the moving company and we are just about finished with making trips to various stores to furnish and set up the apartment. We need a few more things, but those can wait. Last weekend we went to Ikea in Woodbridge, VA and we picked out a coffee table, end table and a dining room table and chairs, among some other decorative stuff and kitchen items. Justin and I are both trying to lose weight and so far he's doing really good. I am doing OK, my results are just not as fast. We're not on a particular diet, we've just been counting our calories and exercising. We're using a website called Calorie Count. It's free to sign up and start an account and it's really easy to use. Basically you enter everything you eat and it counts your nutrition levels and creates tables and reports to show you your daily nutritional intake. You get graded (ABC..scale) and there's also a place to enter your weight and your activities (exercise) so you can keep track of your progress. Anyway, we like it. The hardest part for me is that I get bored eating the same healthy foods over and over again. Funny that I never got bored eating the same nonhealthy foods over and over again! If I were skinny and it was ok to eat Chick-fil-A everyday, I would! So if anyone has any low calorie recipes they'd like to share....email me! Please ;)
Justin's birthday is coming up here soon....September 3rd! I was trying to find some tickets to a Redskins game (his favorite team) for him (it's OK, he knows), but for a decent seat, the ticket prices start at $200/each. Unfortunately, I can't afford that kind of a gift. He will be 27 (my favorite age). I loved being 27...the sound of the number and age...you're not 25 and in your mid-20s but you're not 30 or in your late 20s. You're just in the middle of being in your mid 20s and your late 20s :) I also liked being 27 because it was a good year for me. I moved to the westside area of LA (which I really liked most in all of the LA area), I got a raise at work, my goals and the things that are important to me became clear, I had so much to be thankful for (still do)..family, friends and of course, I met Justin that year! Now I'm 28....and it's not bad, but if I could have stayed at 27 a little longer, I would have.
Speaking of birthdays, My oldest sister, Daphne, is turning the big 3-0 next weekend. I think last year I made a post in her honor, singing a song from the "Little Mermaid." I will have to come up with something better for this year's birthday shout-out. I love to embarrass her whenever I can. She will be here tomorrow because we are going to the beach on Saturday. I think I've already posted about that, so I'll move on...
It's raining right now. Not hard, but there's a gray and gloomy sky and a continuous slow, light rain outside. It's finally started to cool, as well. The last week has been noticeably lower in temperature. Instead of 95, I think it's been in the 80s. I can't wait for some Fall weather! September/October/November is my most favorite time of year. I just love how pretty and comfortable the season is.
Well I'm rambling on about the weather now....I have nothing more interesting to write about! I'll come back when I have more to say....hopefully soon, I'll be able to post about finding a great new job!
