Moving in 1 week!

It's been a while since I've had time to write here. I'll just blog about the things that are going on right now. But most of you already know ;) We are in LA for one more week. It's weird that it's only a week away and also exciting because it's finally here! We've packed pretty much everything we can pack. We'll spend an hour or so packing what's left next weekend before we hit the road on Monday. The movers are coming next Monday morning and then we are leaving shortly after they finish loading the truck. We won't see our stuff for at least a week, possibly two, and more like three. The first three weeks are going to be interesting...living in our new apartment, without our stuff! But there's not much we can do about it, so we'll just have to make the best of it. We decided to sell some things that we were originally planning on moving because it just makes more sense to go with the least amount of baggage necessary. The move will be cheaper and we can get new stuff, stuff that we both like, after we get there and get settled. I'm talking about furniture. :) Which is also exciting because picking out new stuff is FUN! It's just not going to be fun for the person or people that are moving it into our place (we are on the fourth floor!). This is my last week at work..this coming Thursday is my last day. It would be wonderful to not work this week because I'm so bored there right now, but I'm thinking about the last paycheck and how it's going to be the last. I trained the new person last week and there's not much more I can do, so yeah, I'm bored. I'm anxious to get there and learn the area because it will really help with the job search. I've applied for some stuff online but I really need to be more familiar with the area.
Justin and a few of his friends are going to Vegas on Thursday-Saturday, and then they are coming back to LA before heading home on the same day we leave town-Monday. They are visiting from Delaware. So we are going to have some out of town company for our last weekend in LA. On Saturday, sometime that evening, we're going to go to Dockweiler beach, which is in the Playa del Rey area. It's one of the few beaches that you are allowed to have fires-so we'll go down there for a little while and cookout and then head to our favorite bar (Renees) in Santa Monica for our last Saturday night in LA. Friday night, Season and I are going to go see The Devil Wears Prada and eat at Fred 62s one last time :) Fred 62s is this diner-style restaurant in Los Feliz that has a fun macaroni and cheese dish on the menu, "Mac Daddy n Cheese balls." They are breaded-fried balls of macaroni and cheese. I know it sounds weird, but they are delicious. I will also have to get my signature sandwich one more time-the "Super Rico!" It's just a tuna patty sandwich-but I love it! The best tuna patty sandwich until I taste one better ;p....
I'm having dinner with my old boss on Wednesday night. She is one of the best people I know. She's just a wonderful person and I was happy to work for her! I know I'll be sad to say "goodbye" to her, but I'm glad we're going to meet for dinner one more time! I'm busy, but it's a fun kind of busy. Getting ready for the move and the drive. I'm actually ready to get on the road for a week :) I'll definitely take pictures and I'll post them on flickr when we get internet at the new place!
Happy 4th of July! and bye bye LA......

The Mosquito

Has anyone heard about the "Mosquito"? Not the actual bug, but the special tone-buzzing device designed to keep young troublemakers away? I heard about it on the radio this morning for the first time. Pretty funny, actually. So in the UK this guy made this thing that they are calling the mosquito to keep the young "troublemakers" out of a particular shopping mall/problem area because of the criminal damage happening to the shops. The buzz can only be heard by people 25 years old and younger. The longer the sound is heard, the more annoying it becomes, so it's designed to drive them away. Older people cannot hear the tone for some reason. So apparently it's been working and the crime has gone down since this bug was put in effect. Here's the funny part...the kids were able to download this same buzzing noise somewhere on the internet and were able to make it a ring tone for their cell phones. So now these kids have their phones turned on and they are ringing in class, and everyone can hear the ring except the teacher. Clever little rebels.

It's JUNE

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've been busy and I don't really know where to start to catch up here. I went to New York over the Memeorial day holiday weekend. Justin and I met my friends, Matt and Abbey there, along with my sister, Daphne (who lives in Brooklyn). We visited most of the famous NYC sights and took over 1000 pictures between three cameras. Great trip!
Since I've been back I've been working and getting things together for my next trip to Texas this weekend for my family reunion in New Braunfels. I have also been trying to see my friends as much as possible because this is my last month in LA. And Quinn is moving to Austin this weekend! Michelle is having Quinn, Season, Shannon and I over for dinner tonight to say our farewells. I know it's going to be hard, but I also know we're not really saying g'bye.
I have been trying to get things organized at the office, as well as set up interviews for my replacement. So far, we've only interviewed two people. Hopefully my boss will hire someone next week and they can start right away, so I have enough time to train them properly!
We got our apartment in Fairfax..2 bedroom/2 bath unit on an upper floor, I think 3rd or 4th? I can't remember right now. We signed a six month lease, just in case we don't like it. But hopefully we do, because I don't really want to move all over again six months from now! The movers are scheduled to pack our stuff on the third of July, and just about everything else is set, too! Except my car might not be ready....
On the way home from airport last week, I got rear-ended by an uninsured driver. It's in the shop, damages currently being repaired, but they can't guarantee a specific finish date. I was given an esitmated time of three weeks. So it's going to be really close!
We're planning to drive/stop through the Grand Canyon on our way out of town and then we are pretty much just going to go....drive and drive and drive... We are making a stop in Tennessee to stay with Season and Adam at their parents' house. Season and Adam just happen to be in TN at the same time we'll be driving accross the country, so it will be a fun stop! I'm excited!
I know this was somewhat of a short post, with a lot of info., and not too many detials....sorry, but I'm busy! I hope everyone is doing OK!...xxoo
