Update and stuff

We're here! We made it to Delaware last Thursday night, which means we did the cross country trip in 4 days. We stayed in Delaware for 3 nights with Justin's family, and then we drove over to our new apartment in Fairfax on Sunday morning. The apartment is nice and seems to be in a good location, although I'm not yet familiar with exactly where we are in relation to everything. Justin started work on monday morning, early and not quite bright yet! The schedule is going to take some getting used to. The alarm is set for 5:30am, so he can be out the door by 6am. But he's usually on his way home by 3:30 and is home between 4-4:30. My days have been occupied with grocery shopping, job searching, unpacking and little tedious chores that need to be done. I'm anxious to find a job right now, as I can see how this might get boring after a while. Not that I'm complaining...I do like the "time-off", but not being on a schedule and having soooo much free time is difficult for me, especially since I'm used to the workweek lifestyle. I'm not too worried though, I have a few prospects and one of them should come about soon. My car arrived the night before last, or actually I should correct myself..My car arrived yesterday morning..at 1am. The driver was this asian, barely english speaking "excited" man! He called to say he was at the shopping mall, the "safeway" just down the street, but understanding that was extremely difficult. We drove to the safeway and met him to get my VERY dirty car (it was dirty before, but even more now). He was really happy, energetic and excited for 1AM. It was a little bit weird. Anyway, my car is back and is now ready to go BACK into the bodyshop. I can't remember if I wrote about my second accident. To make a long story short, I was hit a second time, just a week after getting my car back from the first accident in LA. I didn't have time to get it into the shop in California before our move, so I coordinated everything to begin repair once we were here. Tomorrow, I'm taking it into the bodyshop just a mile down the street, for the front bumper to be replaced. After this is done, I need to get it in for maintenance. One thing I really hate to do-it's just one of those expenses I really don't like.
Back to the stuff....tomorrow is Friday and besides getting my car to the shop, I'm going to go into town to meet Justin for lunch. I'm glad the weekend is almost here, too, because we can hang out, see some stuff, do some more shopping and relax. Yesterday I went out to mail some stuff and did a little exploring in Fairfax, but it started to rain, so I couldn't see much and I was afraid of getting lost in not only the rain, but rush hour traffic. So I headed back home. This weekend should be good weather for us-supposed to be sunny, and in the high 80s. It's been humid, hot and overcast for the most part this week. Nothing I'm not familiar with. It's a lot like Houston summers are, except everything is greener here!
Justin called the movers today to get an idea of when our stuff is going to arrive. We're going to be lucky if we see it at the end of next week. It's looking like 2 weeks from now. Our stuff is still in the warehouse in CA, in line for a truck heading Eastward. Fun! I'm anxious to get our furniture. Not that we have much, but it beats the air matresses we are currently sleeping on and using as our "couch." We need to buy a small kitchen table and chairs, a new desk and a few living room tables. We'll probably end up getting these things from Ikea on the cheap. My main concern is having to move them in. We are on the fourth floor...and I'm not a complete wimp, but my back tells me just about every night that I'm getting older!
Well that's about it for the update right now. I've added some pictures on my flickr site of the new place. Once we get a little more settled, I'll post some "after" photos.
AND Happy Birthday to my little sis, Ginger....she's 25 tomorrow! :)
